The judge: Gem, twenty-five years in.
Frome N' Groom is a small parlour on Christchurch Street East with one groomer in it. Gem has been grooming dogs for twenty-five years, and she does every part of every groom herself: the hello, the bath, the clip and the final fluff. No hand-overs, no rotating staff, no dog left in a cage waiting for the next person.
That matters most for the dogs who find it hardest. Puppies on their first visit, like eight-month-old Hunter. Older dogs who need to take it slowly, like thirteen-year-old Luna. Nervous dogs who settle once they know the hands holding them are the same ones all the way through.
